New! Gleaning Flyer

We sell our produce directly to the Pittsburgh Food Bank for their Farm Stand Project. It is an urban agriculture program that provides fresh, Pennsylvania-grown produce at affordable prices to low-income neighborhoods that have limited or no access to farmers’ markets and grocery stores. Residents can redeem Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) coupons through the UDSA at all of the farm stands. Learn more, http://www.pittsburghfoodbank.org/

We also donate all of our excess produce to the Pittsburgh Food Bank through their gleaning and farmer donation programs. Gleaning consists of a phone call to the Food Bank when we are finished harvesting a field and there is still produce left. A day or two following our final harvest, the Food Bank sends a group of volunteers and a truck to harvest what is left so it does not go to waste. The Farmer Donation Program is a program in which the Food Bank personnel come at the end of the Farmers’ Market to accept any donations of unsold, excess produce from the farmers. This is a great way for us to keep our produce fresh everyday without the unsold products going to waste.
